Bayleigh Chaviers and Anne Colombo: Signed with Valur Reydarfjördur (Iceland, Division One)

Bayleigh Chaviers and Anne Colombo re-sign in Iceland

PSC are proud to announce the re-signings of both Anne Colombo & Bayleigh Chaviers with UMF Valur Reydarfjördur in Iceland for the 2022 season.

Both players played pivotal parts in very different ways as Valur Reydarfjördur gained promotion to Division One in 2021 and have been rewarded with new contracts for the 2022 season.

Midfielder Bayleigh was one of the standout performers of the team in her debut season of 2021, contributing a number of goals and assists in their promotion push and was lauded for her energy and stamina throughout the season.  Goalkeeper Anne had a vastly different experience in her debut season suffering a broken hand in the opening weeks and would not make her return until the final game of the season, a promotion clinching playoff. Most players would not expect to be re-signed following a year of injury however her positivity and energy around the club has such an impact in the dressing room Head Coach Bjorgvin Gunnarsson had no hesitation welcoming her back at the club.

PSC Director of Placement Simon Deeley commented “Both players very much deserve their call backs for different reasons. Bayleigh was one of the standout players of last season and will hopefully build on that and have an even stronger year this season. Anne has a lot of ability and potential that we did not get to see last year but her attitude and the reaction to her situation was faultless and inspirational. We are excited to see how she gets on this season having not had a chance to see the best of her last year.”

He continued “Hopefully it will be a successful season for both players and club as we have a strong relationship with Valur Reydarfjördur and their staff.”

We caught up with both Bayleigh and Anne ahead of their second professional seasons. Read their interviews here:
