PSC Orlando Combine participant Vincenzo Candela has just signed to the Charleston Battery of the USL. With a standout performance in PSC’s Orlando Combine in January 2018, he attracted
interest from a number of coaches in attendance including Head Coach, Mike Anhaeuser of the Charleston Battery. “Vincenzo is a versatile player that will bring intensity and quality to our midfield corps,” said Anhaeuser. “We first watched Vincenzo at a Pro Soccer Consulting combine in Florida and he has proven to be a player that will help our team in the 2018 season.”
PSC Director Tom Taylor said “It’s great to see another player from our winter events sign in the USL. The level of the league is getting better every year and the pathway becomes even more difficult as the level increases with more recognized players coming over to play in the league like Joe Cole, Didier Drogba and other experienced internationals. We are pleased that Mike and the Battery were able to find a player of Vince’s quality at the event. I’m sure he’s going to develop and enjoy his time with the club.”
“Success stories like this is one of the big reasons our events are created; to forge a clear path for players to get into the professional game. Vincenzo came to the combine and played very well showing great qualities on the ball and a willingness to close down, work hard and tackle. Both himself and Gianluca (who signed with San Antonio last week) controlled the midfield over the 3 days of games in Orlando and both have signed in the USL. If you are expecting results as a player and interest from coaches and agencies at the events, then you have to step on the field, dominate and show people you are better than what they have on their current rosters and shine above others. Hopefully our upcoming event in Orlando will produce some similar talent and success stories!.”
