Courtney Strode Elise Kotsakis and Hannah Kimsey: Offered contract with Linköpings FC (Sweden, Premier League)

PSC Confirm Three Women’s European Premier League Success Stories From Combine

PSC are delighted to announce their first Women’s combine success stories as three players from our inaugural women’s combine have been offered trials in the Damallsvenskan (Swedish Premier League) with three different clubs.

Head Coaches Martin Sjongren (Linkopings FC) and Rickard Nilsson (KIF Orebro) were observing and recruiting from a field of around 30 Women in San Diego looking to make additions to their elite squads ahead of the 2015 season.

Both clubs will play in the European Champions League during the 2015 season, the highest standard of Women’s professional soccer in Europe, so Nilsson and Sjongren are looking far and wide for capable players to enhance their squads this year.

The standard was noticeably high as elite Women’s players from across the country came together to earn a contract in Europe. The combine was an open age event and boasted mainly college graduates aged 21 – 23 but it was 16 year old central midfielder Courtney Strode who stood out from her peers and caught the eye of Linkopings Head Coach Martin Sjongren. Ex Albion player, Strode, and her Father Buzz, will now travel to Linkoping to trial with the Premier League Club this February with the goal of signing her first professional contract.

Striker Elise Kotsakis, 23, also caught the eye of rival Premier League Coach Rickard Nilsson of KIF Orebro who invited her in for pre-season this February. Kotsakis is currently signed with another club and unable to attend the trial but will look to link up with the squad for next season once she is a free agent again.

Hannah-May Kimsey, also a central midfielder, showcased well and despite no direct interest from coaches in attendance, Coach Nilsson recommended her to Coach David Kjellin of fellow Premier League outfit Mallbacken IF. Coach Kjellin has asked for Hannah to trial with the club in July 2015 following her graduation from College.

PSC Women’s Director Simon Deeley commented “I am delighted to see three success stories come from our very first combine. It was an experiment to see the interest levels and both our agency staff, and the attending Damallsvenskan coaches, were delighted with the standard. All the girls had played at a good standard either in or out of college and it made for a fast paced, intense 3 days of action.”

“With this high caliber of player in attendance we are looking to put together an elite showcase squad for the summer. Coaches Nilsson, Sjongren and Kjellin are highly impressed with the level and have offered full support in hosting the squad and notifying Premier League and Division One coaches of the games and giving these girls the exposure they deserve.”

PSC staff wish all three girls the very best of luck for this season. We’re looking forward to traveling to Sweden this summer and replicating the same success in the Women’s game as we have enjoyed in the Men’s game which has seen over 100 success stories across Europe and America in the last 18 months.
